i really needed this. i was asked if i would be interested in donating a piece for a fundraiser for the aids foundation of chicago ([link]) and aids marathon training program ([link]). this is what i made. it was nice to make something without any outside influence. the auction takes place on july 19th in oak park, il. please follow the links to find out the specifics. there will be a garden party and a silent auction. if you live in the area, please stop by. i know there will be some very cool stuff to bid on. put a part of that "stimulus payment" to some good use. the design was just something that popped into my head when i got into my studio. it feels good to do something like this...and i really needed it. The proportions are perfect and I love the topaz and titanium mix. The placement of the stone makes this piece for me; that and all the curved lines in contrast with the angles and facets of the stones.
I hope it fetches a very pretty penny.

I really, really love the design, it has the sense of sliding - that you can slide it and hide it's treasure. Clean and with that little extra touch of.. thought I guess. Your designs always feel so well thought through and that adds to the overall feel of high craftmanship.
